Detective Kim Stone Series (Books in Order)
The Detective Kim Stone series follows Detective Inspector Kim Stone, a sharp, driven West Midlands police officer working out of Halesowen in the Black Country, who investigates some of the darkest crimes. Serial killers, missing children, institutional abuse, are just some of them. At the same time, she is managing a team she’s very protective of despite her blunt, often abrasive way. Kim Stone’s troubled childhood is a major story arc which runs through the series, giving her character more depth than a standard procedural lead. Her working relationship with DS Bryant is a major part of the overall plot.

Born in 1968 in Brierley Hill in the Black Country, West Midlands, Angel Marsons showed an early interest in storytelling but spent nearly two decades working as a duty security manager at Merry Hill Shopping Centre, overseeing a team of over 70 officers.
She wrote novels throughout those years, including two character-driven novels originally self-published as My Name Is and The Middle Child, which were later reissued as The Forgotten Woman and Dear Mother, but was rejected by publishers for 25 years before being approached by digital publisher Bookouture in 2014.
In 2015, Bookouture released three DI Kim Stone books within months of each other, with Angela Marsons becoming the first crime author on their list. Silent Scream hit #1 on Amazon UK and stayed there for over a month. The series grew rapidly from there, with the author writing roughly two books a year. A print deal with Bonnier Publishing Fiction followed, which brought the series to a wider international audience. She was longlisted for the CWA Dagger in the Library Award in 2024. Angela Marsons lives in the Black Country with her partner.

Without question and I am a voracious reader of detective books, where up to now my favorite author was Faith Martin (Hillary Greene).
Then and (I must admit by accident) I picked up Silent Scream and i was instantly HOOKED. No question; about as good as series of books I have ever read. EVERY book is a page turner with great plots/sub plots with Kim Stone leading the way.
What I like about the way Kim Stone is portrayed is that she has a lot of “baggage” from her past that consistently torments her and that she has to work her way the mind games they play with her.
If I have any regrets is that I only have five books left and can only hope that Angela Marsons is NOT going to put Kim on the shelf.
Angela Marsons is my new favorite author. Have listened to every book on my kindle. I’m loosing my eye site so read a book has become hard for me. I love the narrator for the Kim Stone books. I love the characters. Please keep writing them they make the life of a 59 year old shut in tolerable. I have listened to them 3 to 4 times. I have over 300 titles in my Audible account. Some I listen to more than once. But Kim Stone is my go to books. Cried and cried when Dawson died. Just wanted to Thank Angels Morrison and hope she writes a dozen more.
This website looks very promising indeed. I haven’t read Angela Marsons yet but have ordered ‘Dead Sous’ from Amazon and am awaiting delivery.

Hello. I cannot remember a time when I have so enjoyed a series of books since coming across Angela Marsons, DI Kim Stone series. Reading them in order has allowed me to come to know the characters very well. My background is British (Mum & Dad came to Canada from Edinburgh) so when a character by the name of Kirsty (my sister’s name) appeared I squealed with delight. Someone needs to get a life, eh?! I will soon start book #10 and cannot wait. My sincere thanks to Angela for creating such enjoyable, although sometimes disturbing, reading. Bloody well done! Sincerely, Andrea Marquardt
Start on #2 , the first ever punlished from this sequel.
I have a lot of Anegla Marsons books on my Kindle to read when i retire, but i was given Evil Games to read and i was hooked, i have read Silent Screams and now reading Lost Girls all in the space of a week. I really enjoy these books just which l had more time to sit and read, but you need to tidy the house once in a while!
I am looking forward to reading all the series.
Thank you Angela for writing such wonderful books. I will be recommending your books to my reading group.
It is a prequel, so ideally, you would want to read it first if you haven’t started with the series yet. However, if you read it as last, I found it worked also well because I already knew the main character, but didn’t know what made her tick, what thing from the past pushed her forward. So I enjoyed it for what it was, a glimpse into her troubled past.
Should I read First Blood as book 1 or book 12
Love the series when is book 12 coming out!
