Born in Lowestoft on the east coast of England, Robert Bryndza studied at Aberystwyth University and the Guildford School of Acting, and worked as an actor for several years. Initially, he worked as an actor until he took a play he’d written to the Edinburgh Festival, which shifted his focus to writing full-time.
His first published work was fiction of a very different kind: he self-published the Coco Pinchard romantic comedy series starting in 2012, building a readership before changing to crime. The switch paid off immediately. The Girl in the Ice, published in 2016, his crime debut, introduced DCI Erika Foster and became an international bestseller within months of publication. He followed it with five more Erika Foster novels in quick succession before launching the Kate Marshall private investigator series in 2019 with Nine Elms, which hit number one on Amazon US.
In 2023 he published Fear the Silence, his first standalone thriller, set partly on a Croatian island. His latest series, Detective Jamie Day, is yet another crime procedural set in London.
Robert Bryndza lives in Slovakia with his husband Ján.

I discovered your books at the start of the first lock down in 2019 . I was hooked immediately and spent a lot of time searching for copies of all the other Erika Foster series.I have just finished reading the last one. Oh my word it was such a thrilling and gripping tale and I had to wait till the last few pages to find answers to all the mysteries.
Splendid and I am looking forward to more news of Erika!! Meanwhile I will investigate the first story of Kate Marshall.
Thank you Robert for taking my mind off Covid for hours and hours and making my ‘solitary confinement’ bearable.
Wonderful books with amazing storey lines that take you out of yourself and make you forget your troubles. Thank you for all the happiness you bring.Joseph
I’ve now read all of Roberts books and love them. Very familiar area for me as I was brought up in Beckenham and worked in London for many years.
Thank you Robert,
For the last 4 months I have been so disciplined, meditation, walk, yoga…Yesterday my neighbour left a book on my doorstep “Last Breath” well I want to thank you for no sleep last night and here it is 1:30 p.m..I am still in bed , drank a pot of tea and just finished your book. Best mystery book ever! You captivated my attention from the first page and I found the characters to be interesting and intelligent. The book also makes you question a few things..how much do you put on social media? I also thought about Bryony, and Daryl , how we dismiss people because of looks, weight, or their job description.how sometimes we take dangerous decisions because we are young and feel invincible. How we should fight, fight with all our might and not give up. This book would make a fascinating movie..
Off to see my daughter this evening and taking the book with me…
