Predator Trilogy Overview
The Predator Trilogy is the debut series of the author Allison Brennan. Here she gives us a chilling world where crimes are committed based on an author’s novels.
Rowan Smith is a former FBI agent who now writes her own books. Much to her surprise, she realizes that the crimes closely mirror the plots of her own novels. The more she investigates, the more she has to confront her past which includes many dark secrets that continue to haunt her.
The books should be read in their publication order, starting with Prey, followed by The Haunt, and The Kill. For readers new to Allison Brennan’s works, this trilogy is a perfect introduction to her romantic suspense writing that has unforgettable characters.
Lucy Kincaid Series Overview
The Lucy Kincaid series is probably one of the author’s most popular works. It follows FBI agent Lucy Kincaid as she investigates numerous dangerous cases while trying to balance her career, private life, and romantic relationship.
The series starts with Love Me to Death, and I recommend reading the series in proper order to see Lucy’s development from book to book, and the way she not only tackles difficult cases but also how she confronts her private demons. Using her personal experience in dealing with deadly criminals, she can easily give assistance to the FBI.
Max Revere Series Overview
The Max Revere is another popular series by Allison Brennan. Max is a nationally renowned reporter who is known to be as tough as nails. Using her own TV show, she works hard in investigating cold cases that the police either gave up on or couldn’t solve.
I suggest reading this series in order as well to better understand Max’s character development, and also to follow the plots of each case.
Moreno & Hart Mysteries Overview
The series, co-authored with Laura Griffin, features Krista Hart and Scarlet Moreno, who establish themselves as private investigators and deal with strange cases.
The cases they deal with help them strengthen their friendship due to their shared experience. The books also show the challenges in their personal lives. This book series is also best read in chronological order.
Allison Brennan Biography – About the Author
New York Times bestselling author Allison Brennan, born in San Carlos, California, in 1969, graduated from Menlo School in Atherton in 1987 and attended UC Santa Cruz from 1987 to 1989. She worked as a legislative consultant in the California State Legislature from 1992 to 2005.
In 1993, she married Dan Brennan, and they have five children. They currently live in Elk Grove, California.
Since 2005, Allison Brennan has published numerous novels, with five of them available in over 1000 libraries in the US alone. Her works have been translated into Japanese, Norwegian, German, Spanish, French, and Italian, and more than one has reached the New York Times best-seller status.
Allison Brennan started her writing journey with The Prey in 2004. In the next few years, she wrote over 100 manuscripts that she never finished. However, once she wrote books like The Hunt and The Kill, she immediately became a popular romantic thriller author.
For writing her books, she has done extensive research related to crime, forensics, as well as law enforcement. She visited the Sacramento County Morgue and participated in an eight-week FBI Citizens Academy course. In the well over 20 novels written, she can easily combine her background as an ex-FBI agent and her passion for storytelling.
Besides writing romantic thrillers, she also dabbed in the supernatural genre which was inspired by the seven deadly sins. Her series blends paranormal elements with contemporary settings.
She also wrote several short story collections and anthologies, not to mention standalone novels mostly in the romantic suspense genre. Her stories have been featured in the Suspense Magazine Anthology.
Allison Brennan is a member of Romance Writers of America, Mystery Writers of America, and International Thriller Writers.
Having read all of Allison Brennan’s books, for those who are new to her writing, I strongly suggest you start with the Lucy Kincaid series. They are a nice blend of romance, suspense, and murder mystery, which easily showcases her style as a New York Times bestselling author.
Except for being an author, Allison Brennan is also a mother of five. She loves attending sports events, visiting the gym, reading, and basically be a down-to-earth everyday person.
