Alex Berenson Biography
Alex Berenson is an American author whose work includes the long-running John Wells spy thriller series. He has published 12 novels since 2006, debuting with The Faithful Spy.

Born in 1973 in New York and raised in Englewood, NJ, Alex Berenson studied history and economics at Yale University, graduating in 1994. Next, he began his career as a business reporter at the Denver Post before joining The New York Times in 1999 as an investigative reporter. His journalism covered a wide range of topics, including the Iraq occupation (where he spent approximately five months in Iraq in 2003–2004), pharmaceutical industry practices, and the Bernard Madoff scandal.
While at the Times, Alex Berenson began writing fiction, launching the John Wells series in 2006 with The Faithful Spy. He left journalism in 2010 to write full time. His research process for his novels includes interviewing former CIA officers, soldiers, and State Department personnel, as well as travelling to various locations featured in his books. He currently lives in New York.
