Romeo’s Truth is the tenth book in the Mike Romeo series by James Scott Bell, published in October 2025.

Mike Romeo is working a job for his lawyer friend Ira Rosen when a pit stop at a roadside diner in California’s Central Valley turns into something much bigger. He steps in to break up a fight in the parking lot, and unfortunately that one decision pulls him into a conspiracy a lot of local things, including a local rancher, poisoned cattle, an anti-beef activist campaign, and a shadowy tech billionaire with enough money to make problems disappear.

Before long Ira Mike has a target on his back. The book moves away from Los Angeles for the most part, changing to California’s agricultural areas, which gives the story a different feel from earlier series entries. Readers new to the series can pick this one up without background, though the ongoing thread with Mike’s wife Sophie will make more sense if you’ve read the earlier books.

Mike Romeo just wanted lunch. What he got served was trouble.

A roadside diner was supposed to be nothing more than a pit stop for Mike Romeo. But when he stops a fight in the parking lot the ripple effects lead to a web of secrets, lies, and death.

Or just another day in Romeo’s world.

That world has poisoned cattle, a powerful rancher, an anti-beef crusade, a thug enforcer, a slick politician, and a shadowy tech billionaire. In other words, California.

But who is pulling the strings? Who is spreading the lies? Who is behind the killings?

Romeo has to find out before the target on his back turns into a death certificate.
