Free Mystery Books On Kindle Right Now

The truth is, I’m a bookaholic and a major book hoarder, so you’ll always find me grabbing books especially when they’re free for Kindle. I have an iPad that I use to read most of my new books (I do have plenty of paperbacks and hardcover mystery novels, but you know how it is, you can never pass on getting some more books, right?), so every other day I’m checking Amazon for a few freebies that I can grab with $0.00 (I love this amount!).

Someone asked me the other day: “can I read amazon books on my ipad?” and my answer is: definitely yes. There is a great iPad app for Kindle released by Amazon itself, and reading on it it’s really easy and fun (the image below shows my Kindle iPad library at the moment).

Now I know the debate about eBooks vs actual paperbacks (or hardcovers), and I say, why not have the best of the two worlds? So this is what I usually do: read paperbacks when I take my relaxing hot bath (noway I’d take my iPad there), or when I’m at the beach during the summer or waiting at the doctor’s office, and read eBooks when sitting next to hubby while he’s watching his favorite football (soccer game) or in bed before going to sleep.

So yeah, I love my Kindle books (that I can read on my iPad using the Amazon Kindle app) a lot. Having said that, this is what I’ve discovered in mystery novels at the outrageous price of $0.00 today (which I’ve already downloaded to my iPad, see image above). Have fun browsing:

Castle Cay by Lee Hanson

Castle Cay by Lee Hanson. This is the first book in a new mystery series called Julie O’Hara in the mystery/thriller genre. The author is new to me, so I’m curious about giving it a try. If I don’t like it, I don’t continue with the series, but at this price it’s a pity to pass it on, especially when the current paperback price of it is $11.66.

The Mystery Box by Eva Pohler

The Mystery Box by Eva Pohler. Initially published in 2011, this book is a standalone thriller (with a 4.04 rating at Goodreads). The paperback edition is $11.12 right now, so it’s definitely worth adding the free Kindle book to your PC (permanent collection).

Blood And Justice by Rayven T. Hill

Blood and Justice by Rayven T. Hill is the first book in the Jake & Annie Lincoln Thriller series, which currently has 3 books, with a 4th one on the way. If you want to start a new series before buying any of the other books, getting the first one for free is worth to see whether it’s something you might like. Already added it to my iPad.

Hostile Witness by Rebecca Forster

Hostile Witness by Rebecca Forster – now here is something that I’m looking forward to reading. I love legal thriller (James Woods anyone?) and this novel looks like a great legal mystery with a touch of romantic suspense. Hostile Witness is the first in the The Witness Series, with currently 6 books published. I love discovering new mystery series that I can put on my TBR shelf. Currently the Kindle edition is free, and the paperback is $11.25.

Elusive by Sara Rosett

Elusive by Sara Rosett is the first book in the On The Run mystery series. It’s currently free on Kindle, with a paperback price of $11.65. Goodreads readers rate this book 3.79, which is not bad, but what I really made me download the free version of the book is the fact that the next two books in the series have both 4+ Goodreads ratings. With a mix of cozy mystery + funny chicklit, I think I’ll enjoy reading this new series.

The Getaway by Tom Barber

The Getaway by Tom Barber is the second book in the Sam Archer mystery thriller series. It has a 4.14 rating at Goodreads, so I know it won’t be a dud. Btw if you click on Amazon from the book to the author’s page, there is also a novella called Condition Black which is currently free as well. The novella is also part of the Sam Archer series.

Louisiana Longshot by Jana Deleon

Louisiana Longshot by Jana Deleon is the first book in a new cozy/chick lit series called Miss Fortune Mystery. I like that 4.17 rating at Goodreads (I know, I might be biased, but I always check the ratings and reviews by other readers before I tackle a book). Currently the series has 3 books, and with the first one free, it’s worth start a new cozy mystery series in your free time.

Twenty-Eight and a Half Wishes by Denise Grover Swank

Twenty-Eight and a Half Wishes by Denise Grover Swank – since we are at cozies, here is another start of a series (called Rose Gardner Mystery) that it’s too good to pass. Goodreads classifies it as paranormal mystery, cozy, chicklit and romantic suspense, and it gives it a 4.02 rating. Currently there are 4 books in the series and I love the fact that the author lets us sample her first book in the series for free.

Murder on the Mind by L.L. Bartlett

Murder on The Mind by L.L. Bartlett is the first in the Jeff Resnick Mystery series, with currently 5 books available. Jeff Resnick is a private investigator in Buffalo, New York and the series is a fun lightly paranormal mystery (the main character has psychic abilities which enable him to solve murder). Btw whoa – Amazon has 1594 reviews and ratings for this book! And here is my review.

Extraordinary Retribution by Erec Stebbins

Extraordinary Retribution is a political thriller by Erec Stebbins which is currently free for the Kindle. Paperback is $14.36 and don’t even ask me about the hardcover edition! The Goodreads reviews are extremely favorable (with a 4.48 rating) and the genre is one that I love too much: political thriller. I’ve downloaded it and it will be one of the next books I’ll be reading and reviewing soon.
